Iron is an essential mineral used by our bodies for a number of purposes. It is important for making red blood cells, transporting oxygen around the body, supporting your metabolism, maintaining cognitive function and reducing tiredness and fatigue. Our iron levels are impacted by multiple factors ranging from diet and illness to hormones and pregnancy.

Nutritionist, Toral Shah, said: “Maintaining normal healthy iron levels is important for your health and wellbeing both physically and mentally. An iron rich diet and food supplements help to keep your iron levels topped up.”

BlueIron provides the full recommended reference intake of iron to help renew your energy, focus and natural vitality*. What’s more, every single bottle of BlueIron contains added vitamins combined with the Nordic blueberry concentrate for a great flavour, avoiding the unpleasant taste and side-effects often associated with other iron products. It is also suitable for vegetarians, vegans and includes no artificial colours.

Toral’s top tips to reduce fatigue

Get outside in the morning light
Our body requires natural daylight to regulate our circadian rhythms which impact our sleep and wake cycles. A 15-minute walk in the first couple of hours after waking can support your sleep.

Turn off all electronic devices at least 60 minutes before sleeping
Blue light from our phone, laptops, TV can reduce melatonin production which can impact our sleep.

Exercise regularly
It might feel counterintuitive, but exercise can reduce symptoms of fatigue. Exercise releases endorphins which naturally boost your energy and support better quality of sleep.

Reduce caffeine and alcohol
Both caffeine and alcohol disrupt sleep which can lead to us feeling more fatigued.

Eat a diet rich in vitamins and minerals
Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, beans & legumes, nuts & seeds and heart-healthy sources of protein including eggs, seafood, poultry and meat helps to ensure you have your required vitamin and mineral intake, including maintaining iron levels to help you to feel less fatigued.
