History

Our story begins in 1930, when Gilbert Lane first created what is now a thriving and prosperous family company. Initially working from his home in the Gloucestershire town of Newent, the business grew rapidly and by 1940 was operating from premises in the city of Gloucester.

Gilbert was passionate about good health and the relationship between diet and wellbeing. He was an early supporter of the idea that we can improve our health through diet and the use of carefully selected plants and nutrients. As a result his company created a demand for special foods and herbal remedies intended to improve people's quality of life.

In 1974 LanesHealth moved to brand-new, purpose-built premises. Led by Gilbert’s son Roger (who had qualified as a pharmacist) we developed our licensed herbal medicines which form the basis of our range today.

It was also Roger who laid the foundations for bringing together traditional herbal knowledge with state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. It is still this combination that ensures we are a leader in our field today.

Today the company remains in the hands of the Lane family. Gilbert’s granddaughter Janet Groves is our Chairman and Gilbert’s great grandchildren Jonathan Groves and Robin Sissons both play active roles in the business.
