1. I have started a new job that involves standing for long periods of time. I find that my feet are often sore and swollen by the end of the day. What do you suggest?
It is important to ensure that your shoes fit well and are comfortable. When you do get the opportunity to sit down try to raise your feet on a stool or box for maximum benefit. At the end of the day fill a bowl with warm water and add a few drops of tea tree oil to it. Let your feet gently soak in the water for 5-10 minutes.
2. I do a lot of driving a find my back gets very stiff after a long journey
It is very important to look after your back and sitting for long periods of time can be a real problem. Try to manage long journeys so that you do not drive for more than about an hour without a break. Get out of the car and have a walk around even if its only for a few minutes. Try to include some regular gentle exercise every day and visit an osteopath or chiropractor who will be able to offer some specific treatment which should reduce the pain.
3. I would be grateful if you could send me information about products to help with arthritis. My doctor mentioned a food supplement, glucosamine.
Glucosamine sulphate is found in seashells and has been shown to help reduce pain associated with arthritis. The normal dose is 500mg three times a day. Other treatments that may be helpful include fish body oil and herbal remedies containing celery.
White Willow is the source of Aspirin, which has a long history of easing inflammation and pain. When combined with Burdock, a well known diuretic which aids in the elimination of toxins, you have a potent remedy for rheumatic pain.
